  • Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, you do not need to bring anything with you for jury duty. You may consider bringing a book or other reading material with which to pass time between selections.
  • How long will I be there for selection day?

We try our very best to move jury selection day along quickly and smoothly. Usually, Jury Selection is completed by 12:00 Noon on the day of Jury Selection. However, it is not unusual for Jury Selection to continue into the afternoon. As a prospective juror, you will be required to attend and remain at the Courthouse on the Jury Selection date until excused.
  • How much do I get paid for Jury Duty?

Pennsylvania law provides that you will receive $9.00 per day for each day of service for the first three days and $25.00 per day thereafter, plus mileage to and from your residence to the Courthouse. The day of Jury Selection is counted as the first day of jury service.
  • How often am I required to serve?

If you attend to jury selection and are chosen to serve on a jury you will automatically be exempted from another Jury Selection for three (3) years. If you receive a summons during that three (3) year time period and you do not desire to serve, contact the Jury Selection Department in writing and request to be excused, noting the reason.
  • How was my name selected?

The Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts creates a county-specific list of potential jurors. This is a random computerized selection pulled from the Department of Human Services, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Revenue and the Department of State.
  • Is childcare provided?

No, please do not bring children to jury selection as there are no childcare facilities available.
  • Is my employer required to pay me?

  • What if I am selected and have a conflict?

You will be advised of the date and time of the trial that you are being selected for and how many days the trial is expected to last. If you have a conflict, you must notify the Court at that time of the reason for the conflict.
  • What if I have a conflict with the date I am selected to serve?
